Farming Along...

I'm 100% caught up on my Farm Girl Vintage.  Whoop!

We are getting so close to the end, I can't wait to see it all put together!

Here are my latest blocks.  First up are my 12 inch blocks for the Haystacks quilt.

And then all my latest little 6-inch blocks.  They are so cute!

I'm already looking forward to this Friday.

Black Gingham Love

I love gingham. Every color of gingham. It is so versatile and such a classic. And my latest obsession is black gingham. I have already included it in 4 projects and I just keep going back to it.

First, I made this cute little dish towel.

Then, I made this sweet little pillow using Lori Holt's pie cherry block pattern from her Farm Girl Vintage Book.

Then, I whipped up this cute little Fall wall hanging using another one of Lori's patterns, her patchwork pumpkin.

And then just last night that gingham made it into a block from Lorna's Dog Gone Cute Quilt Along. I just love him!

Do you have a favorite pattern/fabric that you always fall back to?

Don't forget to come back and check on my Dog Gone Cute Quilt during the blog hop on October 29th!

I'm linking up all of these sweet gingham finishes at Crazy Mom Quilts.

A Quick Comfort Quilt

So, I've mentioned before that I hate waste.  Especially fabric.  Even if it is fabric that I don't particularly love.  I take everybody's leftovers and rejects.  I have always had the intention to make comfort quilts with all these extras, but I have not been very good about it lately.

So, new goal:  A comfort quilt to donate every month.  Here is my September quilt.  Quick and easy and not even the slightest dent was made in my "stash".  It makes me wonder just how many potential quilts are living in there just waiting to be loved.

A friend had recently given me (2) 1/3 yard cuts of the cowboy and cowboy hat prints, so I decided to go from there.  I left the cowboy print as is in the center and cut the hats into 2 pieces.  That green plaid has been in my stash since the 90s.  Yes, the 90s.  It looks perfect with the cowboys so it was meant to be.  Everything is just a strip x WOF sewn to the batting and backing in a quilts as you go fashion.

Then I just quilted random wavy lines down the strips before adding a new strip.  Quick and easy.

I machine bound the binding with another fabric that I am pretty sure I have had since the 90s.  It is that weird orangy brown that just never "went" with anything.  But it is perfect with these little hats!

I think this whole quilt took less than 3 hours from start to finish.  Quick. Easy. And it makes me feel good to know that this fabric is no longer just fabric collecting dust, it will soon be loved by a future cowboy.

Dog Gone Fun Quilt

Have you seen Lorna's brand new quilt-along over at Sew Fresh Quilts?  It is Dog Gone Cute!!

She has posted the first 2 blocks today.  She will be sharing new blocks every week, so you can make one or make them all.  I will be making them all into a quilt and sharing it with you on her blog hop October 29.  Woo Hoo!!

Here is my fabric pull.  I've picked this awesome denim linen as the background and then dove into the stash for some fun and classic fabrics in realistic puppy colors (son #3's request).  I can't wait to get started this afternoon!
